Button Willow Track Day

These photos have been a long time coming...  Two years ago I went with a friend to Button Willow for a SoCal R32 track day event.  Here are a few shots from the day.

Election 2012

What a difference, in 2008 it was cold and rainy and over an hour wait. 4 years later, clear, sunny, beautiful and the line is pretty short

Scooters and Shop Owners

This past Sunday, on the way to Raghu's farm, there was something peaceful in the markets that day.  The light rain kept the normal fervor down.

Masinagudi through Ooty, a GoPro Time-lapse

On the drive back from Masinagudi, snapped a time-lapse with the GoPro mounted on the windshield.  We took a detour through Ooty, not far in distance, but with the quality of the road and the switchbacks going up the mountain, it took many extra hours.  I ran out of battery power as we reached Yuvaraj's friends place in Nilgiris...  It is over 7 minutes long, but it gives you an idea of the traffic and road!

Cab view of Off-Roading in Masinagudi

Via the GoPro mounted in the windshield, here is the cab view of the photos from the post Off Roading in Masinagudi, in testing out the GoPro, I've noticed that the video is definitely suffering from rolling shutter, more than I would have expected, but then it wasn't that smooth of a run either!

Off-Roading in Masinagudi

Last weekend we took a trip down to Bandipur and Masinagudi to test out Raghu's new Jeep.  It handled pretty well in the mud, much better than the Gypsy Jeeps that the Safari was using (the non-bald tires and the higher suspension helped, our Gypsy broke a leaf spring on the ride back).

Did a few Poses, the Jeep looks much better with a fresh coat of mud!

Only Raghu could make this Jeep look small!

Day Trip to West Karnakata

On Sunday I drove out west of Bangalore to Belur and Halebeedu, stopping on the way at Shravanabalegola to see the Jain temple.  The temple is built on top of a large boulder, with rough stairs carved into it, according to my pedometer, the climb was equal to about 45 flights of stairs.  As it was a Sunday, the temple was crowded and there was a ceremony going on, here are a few shots at the temple.

Grain Assembly

Here are several images of the grain assembly.  There were 6 segments, 80 pounds in all, which had to be glued together and aligned into a single grain with a 7 point star core.  The grains were glued together with silicone sealant.

Suger Shot 2 Space Static Test Video

Saturday, May 5th, Sugar Shot to Space had a static test of the first stage on a half scale motor at the FAR (Friends of Amateur Rocketry) facility in the Mojave Desert.  80 lbs of propellant with a delay plug in the bulkhead, same as in the 2-stage setup.  However it was just a test to see if 1 stage could be successful.  Unfortunately, as the video shows, the test failed only a second into the burn!  The 1st video is normal speed, shot on the 5D, the second video was handheld at 60fps on my 7D, playing back at 24 fps.

I will do another post soon of additional shots, but please be patient as I am gearing up for a trip to India.

Time-lapse Driving Home from Mammoth Lakes

Here is a time lapse of the first part of our drive home from my Cousin's wedding in Mammoth Lakes.  It was made with my GoPro HD Hero, testing out the suction cup mount to our windshield.
